A MOVEMENT OF LAY PEOPLE
DEDICATED TO SHARING IN THE
MISSIONARY EVANGELIZATION
EFFORTS OF THE
FRANCISCANS IN THE PHILIPPINES
AND IN OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD.

PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE
THAT THE BEST WAY
TO THANK GOD FOR HIS KINDNESS
IS TO PASS IT ON, BY SHARING
OUR GOD-GIVEN TALENTS,
TIME AND TREASURE FOR THE MISSION,
ESPECIALLY TO THOSE MOST IN NEED.

OUR PURPOSE

The Purpose of the Franciscan Missionary Union are:

1) to create an awareness and sense of responsibility for missionary evangelization among the Friars Minor, the faithful and all people of goodwill;

2) to promote a spirituality and activity fostering missionary evangelization.

3) to assist and collaborate with the Friars Minor in a brotherly and sisterly way by sharing their spiritual and material goods as well as personal efforts so that the Kingdom of God may be realized.

WHAT DO WE DO AS FMU MEMBERS?

Support for the Franciscan Missions through prayer and material/financial contribution or pledges.

Collaboration in promoting Franciscan Missions in 'Mission Promotion' or "Animation Teams.'

Actual participation in the ministry of Franciscans in the Mission Areas.

How does the FMU Benefit Members?

Members of the Franciscan Missionary Union are considered benefactors and partners of the Franciscan Friars in Missionary Evangelization. Thus They are accorded many spiritual benefits as provided by the FMU Statutes, like:
  • Sharing in the prayers and suffrages offered in the Franciscan Communities.
  • Privilege in recommending prayer intentions for their needs and those of others, which are included in a monthly Mass for FMU members, living and dead.
  • Plenary indulgence gained on the anniversary of one's joining the FMU, and on particular feasts of Franciscan Saints like the Protomartyrs of the Order (January 16), the martyrs of Japan (February 6), St. Anthony of Padua, Patron Saint of the FMU (June 13), and St. Francis of Assisi founder of the Franciscan Family (October4).

THE BEST THING ABOUT ALL THESE IS . . .

IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH
TO MAKE THEM A MEANINGFUL PART
OF YOUR LIFE.

". . . THE SOLE CONDITION FOR MEMBERSHIP
IS THE INTENTION OF SHARING IN AND SUPPORTING
THE MISSIONARY EVANGELIZATION
OF THE FRIARS MINOR."

IN OTHER WORDS,
ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS THE WILLINGNESS
TO SHARE A LITTLE OF ONESELF
FOR THE FRANCISCAN MISSIONS,
TOGETHER WITH OTHERS
WHO SHARE THE SAME VISION.
